VDD IQware acquires Belgian company Docalot

Acquisition enables the ECM developer to add Document Composition to its product suite.

Waalre, 19 January 2009 – The acquisition of Docalot enables VDD IQware, the developer and supplier of the Enterprise Content Management system Hyarchis.Net, to create a new Document Composition building block for Hyarchis.Net. This new building block will allow users to produce documents easily using text blocks. The output created is centrally stored and managed in Hyarchis.Net.

Document Composition enables users to quickly produce documents in a pre-established format. The building block assembles the documents on the basis of templates and data. Every type of document can be produced by the Document Composition building block of Hyarchis.Net, from welcoming letters and reminders through mortgage proposals to insurance policies and annual pension overviews. Documents can just as easily be produced in real-time (when lead times are short) as in batches (when large volumes are involved). The templates are created by a document designer, who needs no thorough IT knowledge and can focus solely on the design of the document. A number of components working in parallel ensure that the system is scalable.

VDD IQware will integrate Docalot seamlessly into Hyarchis.Net and will continue its development. Michiel Meijers has joined VDD IQware from Docalot and is leading the product integration process. At the same time Michiel remains responsible for Docalot/Hyarchis.Net Document Composition applications as product manager and continues to be the contact person for Docalot’s existing clients.

“With the acquisition of Docalot, the Hyarchis.Net Enterprise Content Management system is complete,” explains Andre van der Doelen, director of VDD IQware. “We’ve seen that users of document creation solutions need to manage and store output centrally, so that they can comply with the legislation and regulations in the area of digital permanence and sustainability. The Document Composition building block now makes this possible. The acquisition is fully in line with our company’s growth strategy and our goal of expanding the ECM suite with complementary solutions.”
